Hierarchical Agglomerative Clustering

(written between 3 and 3:15 am, 4/20/09. I feel I should make clear that the rhymes are intentionally terrible, at least to the extent that anything that’s done between 3 and 3:15 am can be said to be “intentional.”)

H.A.C.,
It’s mother’s milk to me,
No more foolish flurrying and flustering,
For nothing could inspire
Like witnessing this hier-
Archical agglomerative clustering.

H.A.C.,
It’s all I want to be,
What a legacy you’ve left to us, Turing!
Because I’ll never tire
Of debugging this hier-
Archical agglomerative clustering.

H.A.C.,
Footloose and fancy-free,
It’ll be done before my class (or just during) —
Go die to death in fire
If you can’t code up hier-
Archical agglomerative clustering.

(It’s official, I’ve gone insane. CS has driven me insane.)

(Note: HAC is an algorithm, and it doesn’t really much matter what it does, but we had to code it for CS181. 3-AM-and-frustrated Brian just tends to start coming up with rhymes instead of thinking.)
